Let's get one thing straight.....

Hello Everyone,

So this isn't my normal blog post but I've been thinking about doing this for a while now.

The other day I was on my way to work when I worked past a few builders which one of them said "Eh up" with the other replying "Ewww no she's too skinny" It's bad enough that they think it's right to comment on someones appearance like that but to say it out loud so I could hear is even worst. It's not ok to say these things to other people you haven't got a clue what they're going through in their person life.

Do they not even think how a comment like that can hurt someones feelings? I am naturally slim, I'm not skinny, I'm a healthy weight for my size. I get this quite a lot and it's got to the point where I've just about had enough. People have different body structures and that's just how we are, there's no need to shout across the street comments or say them to your face. They wouldn't like it if it was the other way round.

Another thing people comment on is "Do you even eat?" which is probably the worst one because they're implying that I look like I don't or haven't seen me eat so of course I don't. I eat three meals a day and bit and bobs in between but I shouldn't have to explain that to other people. In the past I have actually been called anorexic which shouldn't be a term that is thrown around or even used as a insult. Believe it or not I eat a tonne load of food... I'm just lucky that I don't put on any weight otherwise I would be in trouble ha ;)

For me I think these are the main reasons I have to deal with anxiety and panic attacks because I've just constantly got these comments flying at me.

Thank you for reading and my usual blog posts will return on Wednesday :)

  1. It saddens me that you, like so many others, are subjected to such derogatory comments. Congratulations for speaking out and bringing awareness to the issue. I hope that people will only continue to realise the impact that such comments can have on others, and in the meantime, we must never forget that the way we perceive ourselves is all that matters. x

    1. I know, it's terrible how people just say what they want without thinking about how it can affect others. I just hope they start to realise and think before they speak. x

  2. I think it's an absolute disgrace that people feel the need to comment on someone else's appearance like that. In that last few weeks at work I have been told I have a big nose, my hands are a funny colour and asked if I'm pregnant (which I'm not!). These people just need to keep their thoughts to themselves and concentrate on their own lives. Good for you for speaking out Natasha and I know it's hard but you've just got to ignore the comments :) x

    1. They don't see it from the other side and I guess they wouldn't like it if they had comments aimed at them! That's awful especially at your place of work! I just hope that at least 1 of those sorts of people read this and realise the impact of what they say :) x
